What information is available?

Divorce records prior to 1968 are located in the district clerk's office in the county where the divorce was filed.

The information that is available on the divorce record indexes includes  the following:

From 1968 - 2000

Divorce Index Records  (1968-2000)

File number, husband's full name, age, wife's first and middle name, age, number of children less than 18, marriage date, divorce date, county code, and county.

This is not the actual certificate or license, only an index that points to the actual certificate or license at the  County court house.

Divorce indexes are not themselves legal documents and are prepared only as aids in locating the records upon which they are based.  If you believe that an original divorce contains an error, you may contact the County Clerk's office in the county where the divorce is filed.  The Bureau of Vital Statistics website lists the addresses of all County Clerks' offices in Texas.  Source Texas Department of Health.
