What is a surname index report?
People are listed in most databases by there
full name (last, first and middle). A
surname search only looks at the
person's last name. Anyone with that last name is extracted from that
database creating a report or another database with only that last name.
One to hundreds of names can be extracted with the same last name.
There are approximately 50 names to
a page in the birth, death, marriage and divorce indexes. Some popular
names like Smith, Lopez, etc; could be listed on 25 or more pages. Or,
depending on the surname, there might be only one or two records.
This is a great way to find information
on many relatives during a given time period.
For
example: Your grandfather was born in Bastrop County. You
know he had three brothers and two sisters. Perform a birth index
surname search and/or
death index surname search for the brothers and sisters. During the early
twenties and thirties, most families
once they settled in an area, stayed there for years. You will be surprised at all the
brothers, sisters, aunts, cousins, etc; that would be listed in the
indexes to help you in your family tree.

These indexes: birth, death,
marriage and divorce are indexed by surname and include full name, either date
of birth, date of death, date of marriage, or date of divorce
according to the order mentioned above. Also, these indexes
include the county of the event and some with file numbers. With
this information you can order the actual certificate from the
County Court or the
Texas Health Department.
Surname records searches are
fee based per surname. The available years to search will be listed in the
selection box. This is not a one year search for a particular
surname, this search is all inclusive of the vital records database
parameter searched.
For example, if you wanted the
birth index records searched for the surname Jones, all the years
from 1926 to 1949 would be searched. Each record
that list the surname Jones, would be compiled and sent. This would
be like having your own database to search for those in your family
tree.
Remember, this file could be
very large. If your internet provider limits the size of your
email, please let me know. Other arrangements can be made like
sending the report by postal mail. This would incur additional
charges (postage and handling)
The surname report, will be sent by email upon
confirmation of your payment
